Party give-aways...

Celebrations are one way that we all can take a time out from our busy schedules and get along together to have a good time with the loved ones. The most popular types of celebrations in our society could be said as parties. Wedding receptions and kid’s birthday parties are all time popular ones among us; though other types of parties are also becoming popular these days. Parties are social gatherings where friends can meet to celebrate the occasion and to have little talks of their own. The partying trend is so high that there would be at least two or three big parties in a week. Everyone would want to throw a bigger and better party than the other, within the family, friends and colleagues. As the tendency of parties is becoming competitive; the competition for catering, clothing and other party supplies i.e. for example gift give-away; also rise.
And we all believe that grand style parties can be thrown with professional assistance…

Wanna Slim down your Tummy?

In this post, I’ve focused on tummy exercises...

Postural Guidelines for Abdomen Exercises
It is always important to exercise in the proper postural, as this would increase the effectiveness of your workout and also would be less likely to get injured. So, the correct posture should be maintained at all times during the abdominal exercises. Below I’ve jotted some guidelines to improve your posture.

1. Lay down on your head parallel to the ground and centered over your shoulders.
2. Bring your chest up.
3. As you bring your chest up, your shoulders must relax and not go up. Thus, relax your shoulders down and back.
4. Tighten your abs by pulling your belly button to your spine.
5. Align your knees with your second and third toes.
6. Keep your knees soft, and unlocked. There must always be a slight bend in them.
7. Lay with your feet spaced (usually hip width).

Muscles targeted
Upper abdominal

Starting position
Lie on the floor with your legs bent and your feet flat on the floor. Do not pull from your arms; keep your focus on your abdominal muscles. Rest your hands on the back of your head or rest them on your thighs. Keep in mind; this is an abdominal crunch not a sit up.

Movement
Lift your head off the floor and pull in your tummy muscles as you curl your upper body forwards. Don't pull on your neck when you come up. Your lower back should remain flat on the ground at all times. Under control, lower your weight, stop just before your shoulders touch the ground and reverse the motion back up.
Do this 5 times. You can gradually build up to 20 with practice.

Cucumber - Honey Toner

Here is an easy receipe to make your own face toner, at home!

Ingredients
1 medium cucumber, peeled and cut up into pieces
2 tea spoon honey

Method
Puree cucumber in a blender. Line a sieve with cheesecloth and set the sieve over a glass bowl or measuring cup. Pour the cucumber puree through the sieve and let it stand for 15 minutes for the juices to drip into the bowl. Pour the clear juice into a clean bottle and add honey.

To use, shake the bottle and saturate a cotton pad with the lotion. Sweep over face, neck and chest morning and night, and let it air dry (about 3 to 4 minutes). Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Makes about 1/2 cup.

Cosmetic Foundations, Foundation Powders, and Other Face Make Up

Cosmetic foundations such as powders and liquid foundation are used to create a clear, smooth skin tone - the illusion of seemingly flawless skin texture that will last as long as you desire. Foundations provide the perfect base for the application of the rest of your make up products.
Face make up is meant to provide light to medium skin coverage and comes in a wide variety of colors and types. You may want to use the lightest covering during the summer and the heavier one during the winter.

Pick a Color that Matches Your Skin Tone
It is also important to choose cosmetic foundations that looks natural (closely matches your coloring) and fits the desired effect you are seeking. You may require a separate concealer for skin blemishes, blotches, under eye dark rings and other discolorations.
Foundation should be applied to the skin first, before any other make up product, since other products may not blend as well to the naked skin and may even make blemishes and flaws look more pronounce.
Cosmetic foundations may be water-based, oil-based or oil-free, with varied consistencies and coverage, and are available in liquid, cream or powder form.

Loose Powder Cosmetic Foundations

Powder adds the finishing touch to your foundation and keeps you looking fresh throughout the day. Powder can be used on its own to look natural. Be careful not to use too much powder, especially around the eyes where the excess powder can settle into the fine lines.
Powder based cosmetic foundations have the function of combining both foundation and powder in one product. It 'sets' your foundation to make it last, it adds a matte finish to the skin that looks fresh, makes the skin seem finer by making the pores seem smaller. You will only need concealer in addition to this rather that setting the foundation with powder.
Generally, moist products are applied first and other powders follow. But when you use powder foundation, you apply the concealer first. Then, using a latex sponge spread the foundation across the whole face including eyelids, but not the lips.

Lucky Seven

Celebrating my Seventh (7th) post! Seven is my all time favourite numeral. So just thought of making this post a bit Special... Well, got nothing much to write...

Things to Think about...

Anger is a condition in which, the tongue works faster than the mind .

You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying over the future!

Love...and you shall be loved.

God always gives his best to those who leave the choice with him.

All people smile in the same language.

Everyone needs to be loved... especially when they do not deserve it.

The real measure of a man's wealth is what he has invested in eternity.

Laughter is God's sunshine.

Everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it.

It's important for parents to live the same things they teach.

Thank God for what you have, TRUST GOD for what you need.

If you fill your heart with regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, you have no today to be thankful for.

Man looks at outward appearance but the Lord looks within.

The choice you make today will usually affect tomorrow.

Take time to laugh, for it is the music of the soul.

Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears.

Love is strengthened by working through conflicts together.

Harsh words break no bones but they do break hearts.

To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go through it.

We take for granted the things that we should be giving thanks for.

Love is the only thing that can be divided without being diminished.

Happiness is enhanced by others but does not depend upon others.

For every minute you are angry with someone, you lose 60 seconds of happiness that you can never get back.

Do what you can, for who you can, with what you have, and where you are.

Roadha ah Kulalee tha?

Folks, it has been a trend to renovate homes for Ramadan in Maldives. It is a great feeling when home interior is been renovated, especially for this holy month. When it becomes a month or less for ramadan, people get hectic and renovation begins. Those popular shopping malls would be over crowded! I hate to go for ramadan shopping, there wont be any room for air even! But love it when home is been renewed. Enjoy painting and especially love the smell after its been painted. There'll be a very roadhamas smell! I'm already getting the smell here! Hehe... LOL! Anyways, have a good time renovating... and enjoy the ramadan! Happy Ramadan!

Ailurophobia - the fear of cats

Paw AND Hidey
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Its surprising that a lot of people loves and admires cats, thus domesticating them in our residents are very common. Since a kid I've always had the fear of cats. I used to sense cats from far distants and it freaks me out. I tried many ways to get the fear out of me, as it became extremely humiliating to get afraid to the slight of that tiny creature, out at the public. Unfortunately non worked out! Conversely, my little brother admires cats alot. He once brought in a two day old kitten (Angel) which was on our roof top and I was having nightmares and had a hard time. Unfortunately or maybe to my fortune; it passed away four days later. I felt sad and sorry for that poor little thing but then felt happy that it is no more living at my place. After sometime, its siblings (Paw and Hidey) started playing on the roof. This time my brother kept feeding the fellows but didnt bring them in as mom didnt like bringing cats in home. I deliberately want to get rid of the Ailurophobia so i started watching them play and eat. Now I can watch them from distant but still it is freaky to see them nearby and to see one suddenly. But I'm happy that the fear has faded even a bit. And I've learned that all it takes is courage to get rid of something!

Ramadan Mubarak

The ninth month of Hijri Calendar is just about to begin. Moon was commenced last night at Islamic Centre and declared that Ramadan begins tomorrow; 13th September 2007. Ramadan means intense heat and scorched ground and shortness of rations, in Arabic. As we all know it is the month where Quran was revealed, which provides us guidance, clear teachings, and the statute book. This month is considered the most venerated, blessed and spiritually-beneficial; as prayers, fasting, charity, and self-accountability are especially stressed at this time.

Childhood Fantasy

Fairy Lands and Godparents are a part of every girls life. As a kid I’ve always been guarded by these fairies and godparents. It seemed to be the real world to me then. Whenever I slept earlier I used to get a gift; maybe a chocolate, a story book or a doll by the Fairy Godmother. If I keep my fallen tooth under my pillow I used to get gifts from the tooth fairy and if I score good grades in exams I get gifts from the fairies again. This was a seemingly competitive thing to get the gifts from the Fairy Land. I used to sleep earlier than my other siblings, as I loved winning more gifts! I hung little Fairies around me by the bed so that they would be guarding me all through the night… However, after sometime, as I grew up I found out that all those gifts werent from the Fairy Land but from the world I live in. And those werent sent by the Godmothers or Fairies but by my beloved parents. Then I came to realise that all that was a Fantasy and that own parents can never be replaced. They were the ones who guarded me and protected me all the time through. There never existed a Fairy Land who sents Fairies to guard the children.

…But though, I still love going back in time and thinking about my childhood fantasies…
