Cosmetic Foundations, Foundation Powders, and Other Face Make Up

Loose Powder Colors

Pressed Powder Foundations

Pressed cosmetic foundations give a smooth, matte finish to the skin that helps control shine. It can be applied with either a damp or dry sponge. At first, it takes practice to use the right amount of powder.
This type of foundation works for all skin types and is easy to carry around since it's not as messy as loose powder. This makes it quick and handy for touch ups. It is available in more shades than loose powder.
When choosing a shade, get one as close to your foundation color as you can and use lightly since it tends to accumulate on your skin during touch ups.

Liquid Foundations

These usually offer light to medium coverage, can be applied using a sponge and are available in a wide range of colors that can be mixed to obtain in-between shades to match your skin tone (only mix cosmetic foundations of the same brand). Because liquid foundation is a more lightweight finish than compact it tends to be easier to use on dry skin. It is also best applied using cosmetic sponges.
To avoid a streaky finish place a very small amount of foundation on sponges and always brush over with powder. The powder helps the cosmetic foundations last longer.
Make sure you get the right cosmetic foundations for your skin type - choose an oil-based foundation for dry skin, water-based foundation for normal skin, and 'oil-free' foundation for oily skin. You can apply moisturizer 5 to 10 minutes before beginning your face make-up application.

Cream Foundation


When using a cream-based cosmetic foundations, concealer may be applied either before or after the foundation. Use a wedge-shaped latex sponge and light strokes to apply the foundation across the face.
You can tell how a cream will cover by how it feels to the touch. The thicker and heavier it feels, the more it covers. So if it feels slightly dry it offers light to medium cover. Very rich creams are used for stage.
Try not to cover too thick with cream foundation or it may look artificial and draw attention to itself.

Concealer

Concealer provides extra cover to specific areas of the face that require more cover than that provided by cosmetic foundations alone such as dark circles under the eyes, a pimple, tiny veins, or redness at the sides of the nose. Concealer also offers a good base for eye shadow when applied to the eyelids.
Concealers generally come in stick, liquid, or cream form. For blemishes, a thick dry stick concealer is good; liquid concealers are thin and runny; cream works for almost everything and everyone.
Concealer should be one or two shades lighter than your cosmetic foundations and have the same undertone (go two shades lighter for very dark circles). Concealer comes in a limited number of shades.

Storyteller’s Twisted Tale…

Every night before I rest off to sleep, I was told a beautiful fairy tale or a Maldivian tale; when I was little. The magical touch of the fairy dust from the wand put me to sleep like I’m in heaven. As days passed by, I raised interest in narrating the tales and singing them Lullabies and Nursery Rhymes to my folks. Like wise, I started recording my stories for programs at the National Radio Station when I was a little older. One Friday afternoon I went for the recording; started my story and carried on. When I reached almost the end of the story, the red bulb switched on; which meant that the recording is paused. The recording technician told me to re-think what I was saying. I thought about what I was saying a lot of times and then continued, but each time the red bulb kept switching on. After about ten attempts or more, the technician asked me to continue. I carried on it the end. One week later when it was aired; all my family (mum, cousins and aunties) were laughing and making fun of what I read. It didn’t ring a bell to me then… but long long time after that, when I was in my late teen; it striked to me what I said that day at the studio and how funny it was… then I laughed my head off… I read a story about a little girl, her mother and a tiger that day.


The story goes as follows:
.........Long Long ago… deep down in the forest lives a little girl and her mother. Every day mother goes out for work leaving the girl alone at home. Since they live isolated from the people, they don’t have any neighbours to look after the girl until her mother returns home. And there lived a big tiger in the forest… in a tree just near their home. The tiger is keen to eat the little girl up. So he knocks on the door and waits outside till she opens. But mother has told the girl not to open the door unless it’s her mother. So she doesn’t open the door. She says she won’t open the door; she opens only for her mother. So this tiger thought he must learn her mother’s voice. The tiger knocks on the door and speaks up but the girl is clever that she knew it was not her mother. The same day she told her mother what happened, when she returned from work. Her mother got a very good idea, she told the girl to tell the tiger that come home tomorrow, and she’ll fry up a goat head and keep for him and told the tiger that it tastes wonderful. Tiger is very excited about this fried goat head. Next morning her mother buys a BIG IRON BALL from the market and cooks it till very hot. Mother pretends she has gone for work and gets back in the house without seeing to the tiger. The tiger imitates the mother’s voice and calls to open the door. Then the girl opens the door and the tiger opens his mouth to eat the fried goat head and the mother puts the BIG HOT IRON BALL into the tiger’s mouth and he cries to death…

Umm… well that is the story in short… does anyone want to know what I said that day at the recording…

I said, that the mother cooked a BIG RUBBER BALL and put it in the tiger’s mouth! "Dhen e rabaru Boalha kakkafa tiger ge anga ah lee yo..."Just imagine a rubber ball will melt before it got cooked… and its a joke... I made a big fool out of myself!

But I suppose that’s a good twist to the original story… hehe… *blush* *blush*

Flowers...

There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.

100 Kisses‏...

One person wrote a letter to his wife:

Dear Sweet Heart,

I can't send my salary this month, so I am sending 100 kisses.

Your Hubby

The wife replied after some days to her husband:

Dearest Hubby,

Thanks for your 100 kisses, I am sending the expenses details.

1. Milk man was agreed on 2 kisses
2. Teacher agreed on 7 kisses
3. Our house owner is coming every day and taking two or three kisses of mine.
4. Vegetable and food shop keeper was not agreeing with kisses only, so I have given some other items to him.........
5. Others 40 kisses.
Please don't worry for me, I have balance 35 kisses and I hope I can complete this month.
Shall I plan same way for next months, Please advise?????????

Wasted Days...

was it LUST or LOVE…?

This is the continuation from the previous part posted on 06th November 2007.

He got introduced to me once again and shook hands. It wasn’t a quick one this time. He held my palm tight in his fist. I couldn’t believe that it was real. It was hard to express what I felt from within. I was thrilled.

Things started to change in my life bit by bit. I completely fell for him. I adored every single movement he made. Never knew why I treasured him so much despite he had all I disliked in a guy. Yet, I totally gave my entire life to him. Spent happy times and gathered special memories.

I believed he had something special to me, though he never expressed his feelings for me. He showed an extraordinary care for me which got me blinded by into his magic.

I kept hearing rumors about my prince, but never believed them. They were horrible and hard to consider as he was an absolutely different person where I see.

We had a delicate relationship. It grew strong one moment and weak the other. But it never changed what I felt for him a fragment. Sometimes, rage made me feel I hate him more than anything else in this world but inside I felt he is everything for me… It took ages for me to discover the real him. He wasn’t the pleasant guy I thought he was. I was seeing what I only wanted to see. He was one cruel son, whose mother would be ashamed of. His charms kept fooling girls who fell for him. I am one innocent girl who got carried away by the teenage lust and got hurt, while the convict enjoyed every bit of his life. He was a real player who knew how to entrap girls in his charisma. By the time he realizes that he is at fault, it might be too late.

Moral of the story: “You can never change your past but can always try to make a better future by repenting your wrongdoing and never repeating them”.

Frog Prince

I’ve read from fairy tales that when a princess kisses a frog, the frog would actually change to a handsome prince. This was one thing I wanted to see if it was true. Once, there were these little toads and frogs near my home in puddles… but they were too slimy and gross I never touched one. One morning, after breakfast my little brother and I were at the door watching these frogs play. He ran to them and took one on his tiny palms. I always wanted to do what ever he does. So, I took one for me too… held it and went inside to show mom that I got a little frog prince. All of a sudden it came into me that I should actually kiss that slimy fellow so that he’d become a real prince! I was just about to kiss it when my little sister came in and screamed… I threw it in alarm. Ran to mom and cried that I was just about to kiss the froggy but now because of her I’m not gonna get the prince! Then my mom told me they are written tales, it’s never gonna happen for real. I felt really sad and kept complaining that it’s my sis’s fault. I actually thought that it would turn real. Sheesh… these fairy tales are so manipulative.

I also used to put tiny froggies in plastic bags and keep them my bath room, and ask mom not to switch the lights off... since they may get scared of the dark! Gosh! How stupid was I?
